+ Appearance White oblong film-coated tablet + Active ingredient(s) Famciclovir 750mg + Administration and dose 1. Treatment of herpes zoster infection Adults: Orally administer 250mg famciclovir three times a day for 7 days. Preferably, begin treatment immediately after symptoms prevent following infection. 2. Treatment of first time genital herpes simplex infection Adults: Orally administer 250mg famciclovir three times a day for 5 days. Preferably, begin treatment during prodromal stage or immediately after symptoms prevent following infection. 3. Treatment of acute recurrent genital herpes simplex infection Adults: Orally administer 125mg famciclovir two times a day for 5 days. Preferably, begin treatment during prodromal stage or immediately after symptoms prevent following infection. 4. Suppression of recurrent genital herpes simplex Adults: Orally administer 250mg of this drug twice a day. To observe for changes in natural progression of the disease, discontinue treatment at regular intervals of 6 to 12 months. 5. Patients with renal impairment: Creatinine clearance of this drug is reduced in patients with renal impairment; adjust dose carefully. Creatinine clearance (mL/min/1.73m2) Dose 30~59 250mg twice a day 10~29 250mg once a day 2) Treatment of acute recurrent genital herpes simplex infection Creatinine clearance (mL/min/1.73m2) Dose 30~59 125mg twice a day 10~29 125mg once a day 3) Suppression of recurrent genital herpes simplex Creatinine clearance (mL/min/1.73m2) Dose 30~59 250mg twice a day 10~29 125mg once a day 4) If only serum creatinine level is known, the following formulae can be used to find creatinine clearance. Males : {Weight(kg) x (140-age)}/{72 x serum creatinine(mg/dL)} Females : 0.85x value calculated for males 5) Patients with renal impairment receiving dialysis For patients receiving blood dialysis, administration every 48 hours is preferable in light of intervals between dialysis sessions. 4 hours of dialysis reduces the plasma concentration of this drug by approximately 75%; accordingly, administer this drug immediately after dialysis. Recommended dose is 250mg for herpes zoster patients, and 125mg for genital herpes simplex. 6. Patients with liver impairment: No need for dose adjustment for patients with chronic compensated liver disease.
