Children 12 years and over and adults :
Adjust dose according to degree of pain in patient and response to treatment.
Administration of 2 tablets recommended as initial dose; administer at least 6 hours apart, not exceeding 8 tablets a day. Do not administer this drug for longer periods than necessary; If prolonged administration is necessary due to characteristics and severity of illness, monitor regularly to determine whether or not to continue administration of this drug.
Children
Safety and efficacy not established for this drug in children under 12; administration is not recommended.
Elderly patients
Administer the normal adult dose. Oral administration of tramadol to elderly patients of 75 years of age or older increases elimination half-life of tramadol by 17%; accordingly, administer this drug at intervals of at least 6 hours.
Patients with renal failure
Moderately severe renal failure patients (creatinine clearance rate 10 to 30ml/minute): administer at intervals of 12 hours.
Severe renal failure patients (creatinine clearance rate less than 10ml/minute): administration is not recommended.
Tramadol is removed very slowly during blood dialysis and filtration; no need to re-administer this drug to maintain analgesic effect after dialysis.
Patients with liver failure
Carefully consider administration at longer intervals to patients with moderately severe liver failure.
Do not administer this drug to severe liver failure patients.
Moderately severe to severe acute and chronic pain
