ㆍAdults
Administer 125mg terbinafine HCl twice daily or 250mg once a day
The administration durations for different diseases are as follow.
1) Dematophytoses
Tinea pedis (interdigital, plantar/moccasin type) : 2 to 6 weeks
Tinea corporis : 2 to 4 weeks
Tinea cruris : 2 to 4 weeks
2) Onychomycosis
Usually administer for 6 weeks to 3 months. Treatment duration may be reduced to 3 months or less in case of infection of fingernails or smaller toes. 3 months is usually sufficient for treatment of toenail infection but may take 6 months or longer in some patients. Treatment may take longer for patients whose toenail growth is slow.
ㆍChildren: Administer to children of 2 years or older. Not recommended for infants under 2 as no data exists.
Tinea capitis : 4 weeks
Tinea capitis usually presents in children.
To prevent recurrence of infection, treatment at regular intervals for the prescribed period is necessary.
1) Less than 20kg (less than 5 years old): Administer 62.5mg once a day. Insufficient data on administration; decide whether or not to administer in light of benefits and risks of treatment.
2) 20kg to 40kg weight (5 to 12 years old): Administer 125mg once a day.
3) Exceeding 40kg (12 years +): Administer 250mg once a day.
ㆍPatients with renal impairment
Halve daily dose for patients whose creatinine clearance is less than 50mL/min.
1. Acute or recurrent vaginal candidiasis
2. Oral pharyngeal, esophageal, non-invasive bronchopulmonary infections and candidiasis in patients normal immune function and immunocompromised patients, mucosal candidiasis including dermal mucosa and chronic atrophic oral candidiasis (oral pain caused by dentures)
3. Systemic candidiasis including candidemia, disseminated candidiasis and other invasive Candida infections (peritoneal, endocardial, lung, urinary, etc.)
4. Cryptococcus meningitis in patients with normal immune function and patients with impaired immune function (such as those with AIDS, organ transplantation, or other immunosuppressive therapy), and cryptococcus from other parts of the body such as the lungs and skin.
5. Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of cryptococcosis in AIDS patients
6. Cytotoxic chemotherapy, radiotherapy, neutropenia due to bone marrow transplantation to prevent fungal infections in immunocompromised patients at risk of fungal infection
7. Skin fungal infections including hand and toenail fungus, athlete's foot (foot tinea), tinea corpis, tinea cruris, leukoderma and skin candidiasis
